… Declares Him As Imposter, Say Olagunju Olalekan Was Candidate For The Rerun
… APC Group Condemns Electoral Commission
SAN FRANCISCO, September 05, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State Thursday clarified that Olagunju Olalekan was its councillorship candidate for Sawo South West in the last Saturday rerun election in Offa local government.
It disowned Afolabi Olawole, who claimed to be the party’s councillorship candidate for the Sawo South West ward.
Addressing newsmen in Ilorin, the state Secretary of PDP, Prince Yemi Afolayan described Olawole as an impersonator.
Though, Afolayan confirmed that Olawole was the PDP’s councillorship candidate in the election that was upturned by the tribunal and Appeal tribunal, he said that he had since defected to the defunct ACN which has metamorphosed into APC.
“Olawale cannot claim to be PDP’s candidate in the rerun election because he had defected to ACN, now APC about two years ago.
“We had written a letter to KWSIEC days before the rerun poll seeking the substitution of Olawale with Olagunju as our councillorship candidate for Sawo South West”, Afolayan explained.
He thereafter presented the party’s candidate for Sawo South West ward, alongside 11 other councillors elected on the PDP’s platform to newsmen.
Olawole, who claimed to have contested at Sawo South West ward told newsmen in Offa on Wednesday that he was not the winner of the election as declared by KWSIEC.
He said that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Adefioye Kayode won the election.
Olawole noted that the rejection of the election victory was not influenced by anybody but based on his religious belief of no cheating.
The PDP chairman in the council, Mr. Goke Rabiu, however, faulted the claim by Olawole, saying that he did not partake in the election as he was not part of those who secured a court judgment for the rerun and was dropped.
KWASEIC’s Daylight Robbery in Offa LG election – All Progressive Youth Forum
We in All Progressive Youth Forum of the APC condemn in totality, the show of shame that took place in Offa, Kwara State over the weekend.
As a party that abides by set down rules and regulation, APC contested the local government re-run election which it won with an overwhelming majority in 11 wards in Kwara, losing only Igboodun ward. We were therefore surprised to hear the announcement of a pre-written result by the KWASIEC on Sunday morning at its Ilorin headquarters, contrary to the collating centre as stipulated by the law establishing KWASIEC.
The result as announced by KWASIEC is a fraud and doesn’t reflect the true state of affairs on the Election Day. To prove the result announced was pre-written, the total votes awarded to both parties far out-number the total number of registered voters who cast their votes on Saturday.
For the benefit of doubt, the result sheets from each ward and polling unit signed by the presiding officers, agents of all parties and security agents are in our custody and we hereby present the true results from each ward below:
Balogun Ward: APC – 1129, PDP -504;
Shawo Central: APC -1132, PDP- 435;
Shawo SW : APC- 1171, PDP – 372;
Shawo SE: APC- 1054, PDP -370;
Essa A: APC – 639, PDP -363;
Essa B: APC -644, PDP -381;
Ojomu NW: APC -1314, PDP -446;
Ojomu Central 1: APC -866, PDP -373;
Ojomu Central 2: APC – 866, PDP- 373;
Ojomu SE: APC -1374, PDP -427;
Ogbodun: APC – 268, PDP – 381; and
Essa C: APC – 972, PDP – 351.
The tally shows the APC having 11,526 as against PDP’s 4,668.
The APC suspected foul play when the Returning Officer absconded and refused to announce the results despite everything being in order.
KWASIEC needs to realise that some contestants from the Peoples Democratic Party it awarded victory have come out to deny such Victory.
The councellorship candidate in Shawo South West ward in Offa Local Government of Kwara State, Mr. Afolabi Olawole rejected victory awarded it by KWASIEC at the election. Mr. Afolabi was one of the PDP contestant declared winner of Shawo South West election by the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) in Saturday’s rerun election.
We have done our best to calm Offa indigenes whose mandate were stolen in broad daylight, but skirmishes of protest are beginning to surface, so it doesn’t escalate, we call on KWASIEC to do the needful by:
1. Withdrawing the certificate of return giving to the PDP candidate.
2. Declaring our candidate the duly elected winner of the local government re-run election.
3. Issuing the certificate of return to the APC candidate and lastly,
4. Apologize to APC, Offa indigenes, Kwarans, and the entire country for putting us through this ordeal.
We also call on the good people of Offa to remain law abiding and do everything within the law to refute this attempt at stealing their mandate.
A word is enough for the wise!
Long live APC!
Long live Offa local Government!
Long live Kwara!
Long live Nigeria!
