January 13, (THEWILL) – Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has been impeached.
THEWILL reports that Obasa was impeached by members of the Assembly during plenary on Monday, over allegations of abuse of office and gross misconduct.
The lawmakers subsequently elected Mojisola Meranda, representative of Apapa I, as the new speaker.
Meanwhile, armed security personnel have taken over the assembly complex and environs.
