May 30 (THEWILL) — The Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Sulaiman Aledeh, has resigned from his position, bringing an end to his tenure at the state-owned media organisation and marking a notable exit from the administration of Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
Aledeh announced his resignation in a letter dated May 30, 2026, addressed to Governor Okpebholo, stating that the decision was taken to enable him devote his full attention to the next phase of his professional career as a media practitioner and pursue other interests as a private citizen.
In the letter, Aledeh said his resignation takes immediate effect from May 30, 2026, ending his stewardship of the Edo Broadcasting Service, one of the state’s foremost public media institutions.
The outgoing EBS boss expressed gratitude to Governor Okpebholo for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the organisation, describing the opportunity to serve the people of Edo State as a privilege and honour.
“I wish to express my profound gratitude to Your Excellency for the confidence reposed in me and for the privilege of serving the people of Edo State in this capacity,” he wrote.
Aledeh said he was proud to have contributed to the repositioning of the broadcasting corporation amid what he described as an increasingly dynamic and competitive media landscape.
He also thanked Edo residents at home and in the diaspora for their support and engagement throughout his tenure, noting that public broadcasting remains a critical tool for strengthening the relationship between government and citizens.
The former managing director paid tribute to the management and staff of EBS, commending their professionalism, resilience and commitment to excellence, which he said made the institution’s achievements possible.
According to him, the workforce played a crucial role in pursuing a collective vision of transforming EBS into a modern, credible and forward-looking public broadcasting institution.
“As I take my leave, I remain confident that the organisation will continue to grow from strength to strength and fulfil its vital mandate in service to the people of Edo State,” he stated.
Aledeh, a respected broadcaster and media professional, did not disclose details of his next engagement, but indicated that he intends to focus on the next stage of his professional journey outside government service.
