September 25, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has dismissed reports that the British government barred it from operating flights to London for seven years.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the airline described the claim as a “deliberate falsehood” aimed at creating disaffection between the company and its UK hosts.
“Our attention has been drawn to a news story making the rounds that our Chairman/CEO, Allen Onyema, said that the British authorities prevented Air Peace for seven years from operating into London. Our CEO never made such a statement accusing the British authorities. Instead, he praised and commended the British authorities for their cooperation in making Air Peace operations in the UK easy and seamless,” the statement read.
The management credited its approval to operate scheduled flights into both London Gatwick and Heathrow Airports to the “support and cooperation” of the British government.
It stressed that the circulating report was “authored and circulated with malicious intent,” reaffirming that UK authorities have been supportive of its operations.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the British authorities have been supportive of Air Peace’s UK operations, and preparations are fully underway for our inaugural Abuja-London service on October 26, 2025,” the airline said.
