BEVERLY HILLS, March 09 (THEWILL) – President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday received the leader of the Anglican faith worldwide, Archbishop Justin Welby who paid him a visit at the Abuja House in London, where the President has been vacationing since January 19.
A post on Buhari’s Twitter handle @Mbuhari reads, “Buhari welcomes Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby to his Abuja house Very pleased to welcome the Most Revd and Rt Hon @JustinWelby, Archbishop of Canterbury, to Abuja House this afternoon.”
It would be recalled that Welby defended Buhari when then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron described Nigeria as “fantastically corrupt” in a private conversation with Queen Elizabeth in May, 2016 ahead of an anti-corruption summit.
While the queen did not respond to Cameron’s comment, the archbishop interjected by saying: “But this particular president (Buhari) is actually not corrupt”.
