June 8 (THEWILL) — The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) reversed part of last week’s losses on Monday, as gains in selected stocks lifted market capitalisation by ₦515 billion, despite a closely contested market breadth.
Market capitalisation rose from ₦155.593 trillion to ₦156.108 trillion, while the All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 802.94 points to close at 243,396.25, compared to the opening level of 242,593.31.
Investor sentiment remained moderately positive, with 32 gainers outperforming 30 losers at the close of trading.

INTENEGINS gained 9.92 percent (₦7.26 to ₦7.98).
TIP advanced 9.91 percent (₦29.25 to ₦32.15).
ABCTRANS appreciated by 9.68 percent (₦6.20 to ₦6.80).
ABBEYBDS rose 9.63 percent (₦9.35 to ₦10.25).
UPDCREIT climbed 8.91 percent (₦10.10 to ₦11.00).
Top Decliners
FIDSON shed 10.00 percent (₦136.50 to ₦122.85).
ACADEMY declined 9.70 percent (₦8.25 to ₦7.45).
RTBRISCOE lost 9.43 percent (₦14.86 to ₦13.45).
SUNUASSUR dropped 9.38 percent (₦4.48 to ₦4.06).
LEARNAFRCA fell 8.70 percent (₦11.50 to ₦10.50).
Meanwhile, several heavyweight counters ended the session unchanged, including Dangote Cement Plc, Lafarge Africa Plc, Custodian Investment Plc, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Champion Breweries Plc and Nestlé Nigeria Plc.
The positive close suggests bargain hunting persisted in pockets of the market, helping equities recover from recent weakness. However, the narrow gap between gainers and losers indicates investors remain selective amid prevailing market uncertainties.
