September 30, (THEWILL) — The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, on Friday, October 3, will deliver a landmark lecture at the Lagos Business School, inaugurating the CBN Governor’s Lecture Series.
Titled “Next Generation Leadership in Monetary Policy & Nation Building”, the lecture is the first in a three-year nationwide series of thought-leadership engagements to be hosted in collaboration with leading universities and tertiary institutions.
The initiative, which coincides with the second anniversary of Cardoso’s leadership at the apex bank, is designed to deepen public understanding of monetary policy, foster innovation, and promote inclusive growth within Nigeria’s financial system.
According to the CBN, the lecture series forms part of the Governor’s Knowledge Acceleration and Thought Leadership Initiative, to bridge the gap between monetary policy and the everyday realities of Nigerians.
Since assuming office in September 2023, Cardoso has prioritised price stability, transparency, and institutional reforms, emphasising that the Bank’s core mandate of safeguarding monetary stability remains central to sustainable economic growth and the protection of livelihoods.
“Nigeria is at a pivotal moment, where technology, global financial realignments, and the energy of its youthful population are reshaping its economic future. Innovation must be harnessed intentionally and confidently, particularly by institutions like the CBN”, Cardoso said at an earlier engagement.
Friday’s lecture is expected to draw senior policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and students, underscoring the critical role of monetary policy in national development and Nigeria’s positioning on the African and global stage.
