April 04, (THEWILL) – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), state governors, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) will meet in Abuja today (Tuesday, April 4, 2023), over the facilities provided by the federal government for the national financial inclusion strategy.
Other government agencies and organisations drawn from both the public and private sectors of the economy will participate in the meeting.
According to a statement issued by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Monday, the meeting is being convened at the instance of NFIU in its letter of 30th March, to the Chairman of the NGF and signed by the NFIU Director, Modibbo Hamman Tukur.
The meeting is also expected to discuss the proposed uniform development and cooperation on the National addressing and postcode project.
It is also expected to reach a consensus on harmonising and updating national tax collection and business entry standards, including their requirements to help respond to the FATF and the EU greylisting in which Nigeria appeared.
The state governors are expected to review the implementation of the cashless policy as it affects their areas, especially in the light of the crisis that attended the recently introduced naira re-design policy of the Nigerian government.
