China Announces Retaliatory Tariffs On US Goods

February 04, (THEWILL) – China has imposed a 15% tariffs on imports of coal and liquefied natural gas from the United States in retaliation for President Donald Trump’s 10 percent levies on Chinese goods.

In addition to the 15% tariffs on imports of coal and LNG, China said there would be 10 percent tariffs on imports from the US of crude oil, agricultural machinery, large-displacement vehicles and pick-up trucks.

A statement by China’s Ministry of Finance , said the measures were part of responses to the “unilateral tariff hike” by the US in violation of World Trade Organization rules.

The US on Saturday ordered 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports and 10% on goods from China.

But President Trump on Monday paused his plans to implement steep tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada for at least a month after talks with the leaders of both countries, who vowed to step up efforts to combat the flow of drugs and migrants across their borders with the U.S.
