November 09, (THEWILL) – Iran has denied allegation linking it to failed attempts to assassinate Donald Trump, after the US Justice Department charged a man in connection with the plan.
THEWILL reports that the United States Department of Justice had on Thursday, charged Farhad Shakeri with plot to assassinate Trump.
According to the indictment, Shakeri (still at large in Iran), told investigators that he was contracted by the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps to assassinate American and Israeli citizens inside the United States. Shakeri had allegedly claimed that the IRGC on October 7, gave him seven days to assassinate Trump and should the plan fail, the IRGC would wait until after the presidential election to move forward.
However, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, dismissed the claim . He described the claim as a plot by Israel-linked circles to make Iran-US relations more complicated.
“Repeat of the accusation in the current time span is a disgusting plot by the Zionist and anti-Iran circles that is aimed at making US-Iran problems more complicated”, Baghaei said.
