November 01, (THEWILL) – Social media critic, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, has been granted bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
The Police had arraigned VDM for impersonation over the unauthorised use of its official uniforms and accoutrements on a video posted on his social media platforms.
The blogger was granted N2 million bail in the court ruling in charge no. CR/510/2024: Commissioner of Police v. Vincent Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, amidst stringent conditions.
The court also ordered VeryDarkMan to deposit his international passports and any other means of identification.
Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arrested controversial cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.
Bobrisky was detained by immigration officers at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a KLM flight to London via Amsterdam.
Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity at the EFCC confirmed Bobrisky’s arrest.
A senior official of the anti-graft agency said Bobrisky was re-arrested on Thursday night, over his failure to respond to multiple EFCC invitations regarding allegations he made against the commission.
“We apprehended him in Lagos, and he will be transported to Abuja. He accused us of bribery and corruption, yet he repeatedly ignored our summons to substantiate these claims. Such serious allegations cannot be ignored. Furthermore, he has also declined to appear before the National Assembly on this matter. We had no option but to take him into custody to ensure he provides evidence to support his accusations”, the official said.
THEWILL recalls that Bobrisky’s ordeal followed an audio recording posted by VeryDarkMan, alleging that the cross-dresser paid top-rank prison officials to secure a private prison outside the Kirikiri prison, following his conviction for abusing naira in April. The leaked audio also claimed Bobrisky paid some EFCC officials to drop the money laundering charges against him, through the help of popular singer, Falz and his legal luminary father, Femi Falana.
Bobrisky, however, denied making these claims, stating he was not responsible for the leaked audio and urged the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable instead.
