June 28, (THEWILL) – The Cross River State Government has ordered the dethronement and de-certification of the Obol Lopon of Nko, Obol Etim Ayomobi and the Clan Head of Oyadama, Ovarr Vincent Erena, in Yakurr and Obubra Local Government Areas, respectively, with immediate effect.
This followed a protracted crisis in both communities, which led to the shooting of six Army personnel.
The sack order was made known in a statement signed by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ben Ayade, Mr Linus Obogo.
In the statement, the state government said it had decided to take over the disputed land in the public interest.
It also said that the ongoing military operation in Nko community would continue until those behind the shooting of the six soldiers are fished out.
The military authorities in the state have yet to comment on the shooting of the soldiers.
