
March 15, (THEWILL) – The Acting Chairman of Calabar South Local government, Ndabu Robert Hogan, has announced a one-week tax and levies freedom for all businesses operating within the area.
The exercise commences from the 15th of March and will last till the 22nd of March 2023.
Ndabu Hogan announced this during his inaugural meeting with agents and other members of the various trade unions operating within the area.
He promised that his administration will reconcile all issues the agents have been grappling with and assured them of the continued cooperation of the council, while also requesting they forgive the shortcoming of the council.
He said the area has been enjoying peace and solicited for the cooperation of all stakeholders to continue maintaining peace.
He also requested that they work for the emergence of the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state because he has a wonderful package for all.
In his reaction, Elder Ededet Andem, the president of the Capital Traders Umbrella Association (CATU), thanked the council for the initiative.
He said they had been sidelined by previous administrations and taxes/contracts imposed on them, but expressed optimism that things will change with the new administration.
