BEVERLY HILLS, May 26, (THEWILL) – Dana Air pilots have gone on strike, grounding the airline’s operations leaving passengers stranded.
Reports indicate that the strike started on Thursday morning as the pilots were protesting the non-payment of their salaries.
The airline, however, continued to sell tickets to passengers hoping that the dispute would be resolved without affecting flight schedule.
When it became obvious that the pilots would not fly, the airline started making refunds as some passengers booked flights with other airlines.
Spokesperson for Dana Air, Kingsley Ezenwa, however, said the airline has paid all salary arrears.
He attributed the dispute to a delay in the payment of an allowance which the airline promised the pilots on its own volition.
