May 19, (THEWILL) – Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining stable and affordable petrol prices, despite volatility in global crude oil markets.
The company noted that it has consistently reduced the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, in recent weeks. On May 12, the refinery slashed its petrol price to N825 per litre, following a previous reduction from N865 to N835 on April 11.
In a statement on Monday, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said the price adjustments reflect the company’s dedication to easing the burden on Nigerians and supporting the broader economy.
“This decision demonstrates our unwavering commitment to providing affordable, reliable, and high-quality petroleum products without compromising operational efficiency or sustainability,” the statement said.
Dangote added that its approach aligns with the Federal Government’s ‘Nigeria First’ policy, which prioritises local production, and contributes significantly to the country’s energy security, foreign exchange savings, and economic resilience.
“Our local refining operations at the world’s largest single-train refinery are a proud contribution to Nigeria’s economic stability and energy independence, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” it stated.
The company also credited the Naira-for-Crude Initiative championed by the Tinubu administration for enabling its pricing flexibility.
“We are immensely grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, for making this possible through the commendable Naira-for-Crude Initiative, which has allowed us to consistently reduce the price of petroleum products for the benefit of all Nigerians,” the statement added.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the benefits of domestic refining are fully realised by Nigerians, promising to prioritise affordability, quality, and national interest in its operations.
