January 08, (THEWILL) — President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has withdrawn his petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) against the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Ahmed Farouk.
The petition, which raised concerns over regulatory decisions during Farouk’s tenure, has been formally discontinued, bringing the matter to a close.
Sources say the withdrawal followed further engagements and clarifications among key stakeholders.
The move is expected to ease regulatory tensions in the oil and gas sector, particularly as Dangote Refinery continues its push to strengthen domestic refining and reduce fuel imports.
Neither the ICPC nor Farouk has issued a detailed public response as of press time.
Industry watchers note that the development could help refocus attention on ongoing downstream sector reforms and regulatory stability.
