
January 21, (THEWILL) – Just four days after a fuel tanker explosion at Diko Junction in Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State, claimed over 98 lives and injured 69 others, residents of Bida in Bida Local Government Area rushed to a fallen tanker on Tuesday morning to scoop groundnut oil.
THEWILL reports that the tanker, carrying about 30,000 litres of groundnut oil, lost control and overturned, spilling its content.
A viral video of the incident posted on social media, captured a chaotic scene as dozens of residents, carrying jerry cans and buckets, scrambled to collect the spilt content of the fallen tanker.
Authorities in the state have not issued any statement on the incident.
