November 21, (THEWILL) — Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, on Friday held a closed-door meeting with top security chiefs in Kebbi State, including senior Army officers, police commanders and heads of other security agencies.
His arrival in Birnin Kebbi followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive ordering him to immediately relocate to the state and coordinate efforts to rescue the schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga.
According to a security source, the meeting was convened to review intelligence, strengthen inter-agency coordination and accelerate the ongoing search-and-rescue operation.
“The session is focusing on tightening operational plans and closing identified gaps,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has commended President Tinubu for deploying high-level federal attention to the incident.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Ahmed Idris, the governor assured that the state government would provide all necessary support to security agencies.
“We will continue to work closely with the security forces to ensure the safe return of our daughters,” he said.
