November 20, (THEWILL) – The Defence Headquarters says at least 5 soldiers have been killed and four others missing, following a terrorist attack on a military camp in Kareto town, Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Major General Edward Buba, who confirmed the attack, said the soldiers were deployed at the stabilisation operations pro-force and defence site.
He confirmed that “the coordinated attack saw five soldiers killed in action, 10 wounded and four missing in action, while troops eliminated several terrorists, as well as recovered weapons.”
The statement added that some equipment including one gun truck, three TCVs and an excavator were burnt by the enemy forces.
According to the DHQ, a reinforcement team with air components, was dispatched to exploit the general area and the terrorists’ withdrawal route.

“However, it is pertinent to note that such an attack shall not deter the troops and armed forces of Nigeria from seeing the end of terrorism, insurgency and other insecurity challenges facing the country.
“As the military high command and troops mourn and commiserate with the souls of the lost gallant soldiers, the Armed Forces remain committed to putting an end to all security challenges plaguing the nation”, the statement added.
