Diplomacy Or Danger: Trump Opens Door For Ceasefire, Threatens To Bomb Key Iranian Assets

Donal Trump

March 30, (THEWILL) — United States President, Donald Trump, on Monday, signalled a dual-track approach to the ongoing tensions with Iran, expressing cautious optimism over possible ceasefire negotiations while issuing stern warnings of expanded military action if talks collapse.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, said Washington was engaged in what he described as “serious discussions” with a “new and more reasonable regime” aimed at ending ongoing military operations in Iran, suggesting that diplomatic efforts were already underway.

He claimed that “great progress” had been made in the talks, indicating that a potential agreement could be within reach if conditions are met in the coming days.

However, the US President also issued a strong warning, stating that if a deal is not reached “shortly”, Washington could escalate its military response by targeting critical Iranian infrastructure, including electricity-generating facilities, oil installations, Kharg Island, and possibly desalination plants.

He further linked the outcome of negotiations to developments around strategic maritime access, insisting that failure to secure progress could trigger what he described as a decisive conclusion to US military involvement in the region.

In a separate post, Trump also claimed that US forces had carried out successful strikes on multiple targets, praising the military as “the finest and most lethal in the world”, while expressing confidence in ongoing operations.

The conflict, now in its 31st day, continues to draw global concern as fighting intensifies and diplomatic efforts appear to run in parallel with military escalation.

Overnight strikes reportedly carried out by US and Israeli forces hit Tehran and other major cities, leading to widespread disruption and blackouts in parts of Iran.
