BEVERLY HILLS, May 26, (THEWILL) – Former Governor of Cross River State and Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the last election, Donald Duke, has quietly returned to his former People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Effiok Cobham, the Caretaker Chairman of the PDP in the state, confirmed the development in Calabar.
The leaders of the party had, during a stakeholders meeting last weekend, promised to reconcile and bring back all party men who left the party over the years.
Rumours abound across the state that Donald had returned to PDP, to the delight of many.
The party boss finally confirmed the development, saying Donald Duke had registered with the party.
The PDP in the state has meanwhile demanded that Governor Ben Ayade account for the N19 billion he received from the Federal Government for federal road maintenance.
The party, through the state Caretaker Chairman, Cobham, said the Governor failed to disclose this to the people, despite the fact that magistrates, teachers and pensioners had not been paid several months of their wages.
The PDP also said that it was embarrassed that Ayade inherited the best public water supply systems developed by the PDP administrations of Donald and Liyel Imoke across the state and had allowed these to fall into disrepair, thereby making citizens go back to streams and wells for water.
