September 02, (THEWILL) — Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has warned the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and his allies against threats to disrupt the planned National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
THEWILL earlier reported that Wike and his allies, on Monday night, warned that failure to meet their demands would “render any purported national convention invalid”.
They insisted that “fresh congresses must be held in Ebonyi and Anambra states, in strict compliance with subsisting court judgements; a new South East Zonal Congress must be urgently conducted; the outcome of the South South Congress in Calabar, already upheld by the courts, must be respected; PDP should immediately conduct the Ekiti LGA congresses, in line with judicial pronouncements; There should be no micro-zoning of offices, beyond the general zoning formula already adopted by the National Executive Committee (NEC), to maintain peace and stability; and The national chairmanship position must remain in the North Central, consistent with the zoning arrangement of the 2021 convention.”
Speaking at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja during the inauguration of the PDP National Convention Organising Committee on Tuesday, Mohammed dared Wike and his allies to form a counter force against the party’s national convention, saying that the agreement to consensus and accommodation, is not cowardice.
Stressing that the PDP would never succumb to threats, Mohammed dismissed Wike’s factional push, warning that the party must not be taken for granted.
He said, “If anybody wants to form a faction of fools, we will allow him. We are not cowards and we are not afraid of any person. We agree to consensus and accommodation, but that is not cowardice.
“We can’t keep quiet and allow people to continue to take us to the slaughter house or take us for granted. Enough is enough.”
