April 03, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the current economic and security challenges facing the country are temporary, expressing optimism that better days lie ahead as his administration intensifies reforms and security interventions.
In his 2026 Easter message released on Friday, the President called for unity, resilience, and sustained faith, stressing that the nation is on a path toward recovery and long-term prosperity.
“I rejoice with Nigerians at home and abroad as we celebrate another Easter”, Tinubu said, noting that the season symbolises “sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness”.
Acknowledging the economic strain experienced by citizens, the President maintained that the government’s reform policies, though demanding, are designed to secure a more stable and prosperous future.
“The ongoing reforms, though demanding in their immediate impact, have been carefully put together and backed by a strong commitment to take us to shared prosperity”, he stated.
Reinforcing his message of hope, Tinubu assured Nigerians that current hardships would not endure, adding that key economic indicators point to positive outcomes.
“Even as present conditions still put pressure on many of our people, economic indicators show we are making the right choices. A new dawn is on the horizon”, he said.
On insecurity, the President admitted that challenges persist despite the efforts of security agencies but emphasised that his administration is scaling up responses through increased funding and international collaboration.
“Challenges to our security have remained, despite the good efforts of the administration and the gallant efforts of our men and women of the Armed Forces.. However, we continue to make resources available and forge foreign partnerships to deal decisive blows to the agents of terror and banditry”, he said.
He referenced his recent visit to Jos in Plateau State, where he commiserated with victims of violent attacks and reassured residents of the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring peace.
“The leaders of our security institutions have given strong assurances of progress. We have also sought and are receiving assistance from outside our shores”, he added.
Tinubu stressed that unity remains critical to national development, warning that no country can prosper in an atmosphere of fear and division.
“I will continue to remind us of the imperative of unity and oneness. No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace”, he said.
He urged citizens to support lawful authorities, look out for one another, and reject forces that threaten the country’s stability.
“I, therefore, call upon all citizens to support lawful efforts, be our brothers’ keeper, and reject all forces that threaten our collective well-being”, he stated.
With Nigeria gradually approaching another electoral cycle, the President also used the Easter message to call for political maturity and adherence to legal frameworks.
“The Electoral Act must guide the conduct of our political parties and political actors. Let our choices be guided by a shared commitment to peace, continuity, stability, and the long-term good of our country.”

Tinubu thanked Nigerians for their continued support and trust in his administration, pledging to remain committed to delivering a safer and more prosperous nation.
“Fellow Nigerians, you have been very supportive of my administration because you trust our ability to make our nation better. I will continue to serve to retain your trust”, the president said.
He urged citizens to “keep the faith” and contribute to national progress, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s future.
“I enjoin you to keep the faith… to the emergence of a democratically stronger, more prosperous, and safer nation”, he concluded.
