April 13, (THEWILL) – The Gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), in Ebonyi state, Prophet Chris Adol-awam, on Wednesday, denied being suspended by suspected aggrieved ward executives, Echiaba Ward, Ebonyi state.

Recall that the leadership of the NNPP of Echiaba ward, in Ebonyi local government area, led by the Secretary of the ward, Anni Okuchukwu, allegedly suspended the governorship candidate, Adol-awam, over alleged anti-party activities.

But, Adol-awam, who spoke through the director of media and publicity for NNPP campaign organisation, Mr Victor Uraku, while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, blamed the former chairman of the Party, one Solomon Chukwu, who was earlier suspended for embezzling over N78 million meant for the party, of masterminding the rumour of the suspension.

He said, “The former NNPP State Chairman, Mr Solomon Chukwu and his indigent cohort are impersonators, who falsely claimed to have suspended the gubernatorial candidate from the Party.

“This mischievous and malicious act would have been ignored but we owe the people of Ebonyi State and our teeming supporters the truth behind this lame woven falsehood.

“The governorship candidate, Prophet Chris Adol-awam, was never suspended as claimed by the ‘self acclaimed’ chairman of Echiaba Ward, Chinedu Ofoke, who is not a member of the NNPP, let alone an executive member of the Party.

“For the purpose of clarity, the substantive Chairman of Echiaba Ward as recognised by the National leadership of the NNPP and INEC is Ndubuisi Nweke and Mr Alex Ominyi, as Secretary”, he stated.

Adol-awam emphasised that the suspended chairman, Solomon Chukwu, was trying to deploy a diversionary tactics to veer attention away from “his apparent administrative ineptitude, anti-party activities and culpable involvement in the misappropriation of over N78 million, fund meant for the payment of our party agent, and for logistics at the LGA and Ward level in the just concluded general elections”, he alleged.

He noted further that the bone of contention began when he (Adol-awam) asked him (Solomon Chukwu) to consequently, give proper account and remit the funds to the appropriate quarters which he (Chukwu) failed to do till date.

According to him, “In his evil plot manoeuvre his way out of these allegations, decided to spearhead cheap defamatory, baseless and unfounded allegations against him (Adol-awam) who is the gubernatorial candidate of the party in just concluded governorship election in Ebonyi state.

Adol-awam, however, urged the general public to ignore the frivolous theatrics of detractors and to note that; “Chukwu had long seized to be a member of the NNPP and would warn any other Party he (Chukwu) wishes to join again in future to be wary of his questionable traits and recognise that he is a walking liability and a cheap mole”, he stressed.
