June 03, (THEWILL) – The Ebonyi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the congresses it conducted that produced the current state executives on November 2, 2024, at the Party’s Secretariat, was the most transparent and credible in the history of the party in the Salt State.
A press statement titled “RE: Ebonyi PDP Has No Executive Pending Conduct of Congresses”, issued on Tuesday and signed by the Hon. Nwafor Richard Nwali, the State Publicity Secretary, Ebonyi-PDP, said the party was reacting to a statement credited to one Egwu Chidiebere, who was parading himself as the National Vice Chairman of the Party in Southeast.
According to the statement, Egwu was just an impostor and not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and lacked the prerequisite to query the authenticity of the congresses conducted line with the constitution of PDP, without any form of rancour.
The statement reads: “The attention of the State Executives of the Peoples Democratic Party-PDP Ebonyi, ably led by HON. CHIEF PETER ONYEMA NWELE, has been drawn to a vicious statement credited to one Mr. Chidiebere Agwu, parading himself as the National Vice Chairman of our great Party in Southeast.
“Mr Egwu is not only an impostor; He is not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, he does not have any requisite whatsoever to question the authenticity of the Executives of the party in the State. The PDP in Ebonyi under the leadership of Dr Sam Ominyi Egwu (Former Governor of the State) is focused to deliver dividends of democracy and offer purposeful leadership to our People under the platform of PDP in 2027, as such, an unsubstantiated allegation of Egwu should be discarded in its entirety.
“Chidiebere Egwu also claimed that ward and local government Congresses of our Party could not meet the minimum threshold; such allegation was a mere baseless statement made by a man who claims that his personal gains supercedes the collective interest of our people and members of our great Party.
“The public should disregard the impostor stoking fire in the PDP for his paymasters due to his abysmal performance in the last general election, when Chidiebere Egwu performed extremely poor on his failed House of Assembly ambition. The PDP in Ebonyi State has long conducted Ward, Local Government and State Congresses, that was acclaimed to be the most Credible and Transparent in the history of the Party in the state.
“The self acclaimed social media NVC has never attended any meetings of the PDP in his political ward, talk of contributing his quota to the development of our Party. We want to state categorically clear Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party conducted State Congress that produced the Current state Executives on 2 November, 2024 at the Party’s Secretariat in line with the constitution of PDP, without any form of rancour.
“Ndi Ebonyi should not be distracted by the errand boy sponsored by desperate political actors from Abuja to cause confusion and sow seed of discord in PDP. As executives of the Party in the state, no amount of unguided utterances will derail the intention of our foundingFathers and stakeholders of the Party.
“The PDP in southeast under the leadership of our indefatigable Governor, Bar. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State, and our National Vice Chairman, High Chief Dr Ali Odefa is poised to deliver on the mandate of the people, despite all odds. We urge Mr Chidiebere Egwu to be properly guided on his baseless assertion as the PDP will not hesitate to whim its power on him and his co-travellers.
“PDP is a party anchored on Rule of Law, Party Principles and Ethics; Social Media banter will not change the fact that genuine members of the party has taken over the affairs and those who has toed the path of disobedience should immediately retrace their steps or risk severely sanction from the Party hierarchy.
“Finally, the PDP is the only credible alternative Nigerians are waiting for in 2027, Chidiebere Egwu and his sponsors should be aware No amount of blackmail and distraction will halt the sustained Progress and Development of PDP in Ebonyi State and Southeast”, it stated.
