December 05, (THEWILL) — The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Dr Ebojele Akhere Patrick as the new Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
The appointment, approved by the Governor on December 4, 2025, was conveyed through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
According to the statement, Dr Ebojele Akhere Patrick brings to the position a wealth of experience as a respected journalist, public administrator, researcher and lecturer. His career spans several reputable Nigerian media organisations, including Channels Television, where he served as the Edo/Delta Correspondent, as well as notable roles with New Nigerian Newspaper, Champion Newspaper, and Comet Newspapers.
The state government said the appointment aligns with the administration’s commitment to strengthening communication channels between the government and the people of Edo State. It emphasised that the new CPS is expected to enhance clarity, transparency, and effective dissemination of government policies, programmes, and activities.
Dr Ebojele takes over from Mr Fred Itua, who is expected to be reassigned to a new role that will be announced in due course. The government commended Mr Itua for his service and contributions.
The statement reiterated that the new appointment underscores Governor Okpebholo’s resolve to ensure professional and strategic communication as part of efforts to improve governance and public engagement.
