Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal

August 11, (THEWILL) — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday interrogated former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals totalling N189bn during his eight-year tenure.

Tambuwal, who governed Sokoto between 2015 and 2023, reportedly arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 11:30 a.m. and was ushered in to face a panel of interrogators over the alleged breaches of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Although EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, declined to comment on the ongoing investigation, sources within the agency described the withdrawals as a serious violation of financial regulations.
