December 16, (THEWILL) — Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commissioned the rehabilitated 1.4-kilometre internal road network at the Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, pledging the immediate and complete electrification of the entire premises.

Unveiling the project, Governor Eno stated that the intervention was part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening security infrastructure and improving the welfare and working conditions of security personnel in the state.

The Governor disclosed a personal emotional connection to the Nigerian Police Force, recalling that his formative years were spent in a police barracks where his father served as an officer. He said the commissioning fulfilled his earlier promise to rehabilitate all internal roads within the Police Headquarters.

The project comprises 1.4 kilometres of newly constructed roads, complete with drainage systems and six culverts designed to enhance accessibility and prevent flooding within the premises.

In the spirit of the yuletide season, Governor Eno also announced a substantial cash donation to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to work closely with security agencies to sustain peace and effectively combat crime across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, described the project as a strategic intervention that would significantly improve the working environment and morale of officers.

He commended Governor Eno for his consistent support of the Nigeria Police Force since assuming office and pledged the command’s continued cooperation with the state government.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Prof. Eno Ibanga, presented an overview of the project, noting that the roads were constructed with gutters and six outfall drains. He attributed the project to the Governor’s passion for the welfare of security personnel and praised his unwavering commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure projects across Akwa Ibom State.
