October 22, (THEWILL) – As voter education intensifies in Bayelsa State ahead of the governorship election in November, the Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation has called on the people of Sabageria and its environs, to avoid all forms of violence before, during and after the election.
The Chief Executive Officer of ENWAF, Lady Eunice Nnachi, came out during a voter education sensitisation programme, which was held in Sabageria, Opokuma, Gbaran-ama and Okoloba town, all in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa.
Lady Nnachi stated that violence in any society does not allow for development and prosperity, particularly during election, it could disrupt the electoral process of selecting good candidates, who would bring good governance to the people.
“Let us vote and not fight, violence should not be part of our election, violence does no good to any person, community or society, we appeal to you all to cooperate and make the governorship election peaceful in the state.”
She advised residents of the communities visited to shun voter apathy and come out in large numbers to vote wisely, adding that no one should sell their votes or engage in any form of election malpractice.
The Chiefs and people of the community expressed appreciation to ENWAF for the visit and voter education.
THEWILL recalls that a week ago, ENWAF toured round Sampou, Kaiama, ODI and Kalama in Koluokuma/Opokuma local government areas to sensitise and preach for peaceful election.
