
February 09, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian equities market sustained its bullish momentum, closing the session firmly in positive territory as renewed investor appetite lifted key market indicators.
The market session this week opened at N110.234 and closed at N111.658.
The All-Share Index (ASI) opened at 171,727.49 and closed at 173,946.22, underscoring a strong advance driven by broad-based demand across sectors.
Market breadth tilted decisively in favour of the bulls, with 59 gainers outpacing 26 losers, highlighting sustained accumulation and improving risk sentiment among investors.
The session was characterised by aggressive buying in mid-cap and low-priced stocks, while selective profit-taking remained limited.
Buying interest was most pronounced in the session’s top performers:
- CAP moved up by 10.00 percent (rose from N82.00 to N90.20).
- DAARCOMM appreciated by 10.00 percent (N1.90 to N2.09).
- MAYBAKER added 10.00 percent (N39.50 to N43.45).
- RTBRISCOE grew by 9.98 percent (N12.63 to N13.89).
- ZICHIS 9.97 percent (N6.72 to N7.39).
On the flip side, pockets of sell pressure emerged as some investors locked in gains following the recent rally:
- EUNISELL declined by -9.98 percent (dropping from N149.80 to N134.85).
- TRIPPLEG dipped by -8.90 percent (opened at N7.30 and closed at N6.65).
- ABBEYBDS -8.03 percent (dropped at N14.95 to N13.75).
- AUSTINLAZ fell from -7.41 percent (fell from N5.40 to N5.00).
- HMCALL -6.56 percent (opened at N4.27 and closed at N3.99).
Meanwhile, heavyweight stocks including Seplat Energy, Okomu Oil Palm, Coronation Infrastructure, Julius Berger, and DN Tyre and Rubber closed flat, suggesting a pause in price action as investors reassessed positions.
