February 10, (THEWILL) — The Nigerian equities market extended its bullish run on Tuesday, closing the session firmly higher as strong buying interest drove broad-based gains across the market.
The market session for Tuesday opened with the market Capitalisation standing at N111.658, and closed at N113.496.
The All-Share Index (ASI) opened the session at 173,946.22 and closed at 176,809.43, reflecting a robust upswing fuelled by sustained investor demand.
Market breadth closed significantly positive, with 66 gainers overwhelmingly outpacing 22 laggards, underscoring strong bullish sentiment and continued capital rotation into equities.
The session was marked by aggressive accumulation in mid-cap stocks, while sell-offs remained largely contained.
Leading the charge on the gainers’ table were:
- DEAPCAP 10.00 percent (advanced from N7.50 to N8.25).
- ETRANZACT 10.00 percent (increased from N18.50 to N20.35).
- JOHNHOLT advanced 10.00 percent (moving from N8.00 to N8.80).
- OMATEK moved higher by 10.00 percent (N2.90 to N3.19).
- VITAFOAM gained 9.98 percent (N96.20 to N105.80).
On the downside, pockets of profit-taking emerged as some investors trimmed positions following recent price rallies:
- ABBEYBDS declined by -9.82 percent (from N13.75 to close at N12.40).
- SKYAVN -9.82 percent (N164.95 to N150.00).
- GUINEAINS lost -6.67 percent (dropping from N1.65 to N1.54).
- CONHALLPLC depreciated by -6.64 percent (from N4.82 to N4.50).
- LIVESTOCK dipped by -6.34 percent (opened the session at N7.10 and closed at N6.65).
Meanwhile, heavyweight stocks including Julius Berger, Dangote Cement, Golden Guinea Brewery, DN Tyre and Rubber, and BUA Foods closed flat, indicating cautious positioning in large-cap names amid the broader rally.
Overall, the session reflected renewed bullish conviction, with market indicators pointing to sustained positive momentum as investors continue to favour equities in the near term.
