March 12, (THEWILL) – Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), has called on Benue people and others, to support the ambition of senator George Akume, to become the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aondoakaa, who is the governorship aspirant in Benue state on the platform of APC, said people of the state stand to benefit a lot if two of their illustrious sons become national chairman of two leading political parties in the country.
According to him, any of the two parties of APC and the PDP, that form government at the centre with a Benue son as its national chairman, people of the state would have an added advantage, because through that person, a lot of development and appointments would be attracted to the state.
The gubernatorial aspirant stressed the need for the people of the state to always unite irrespective of their political class, status, dreams and future goals.
He promised to ensure that Benue people have a common voice when it comes to the issue of attracting federal presence into the state, if given the mandate of his party and eventually becomes the governor in next year’s polls.
He, therefore, appealed to the Benue people to support his governorship aspiration and ensure its actualisation for the good of the state.
According to him, his vast experience in both public and private sectors is an added advantage, as seen in the establishment of MIVA rice company, that has created job opportunities for the teeming youths of Benue state and beyond.
He insisted that if he became the governor, he will seek to modify some aspects of the anti-open grazing and prohibition law with stiff penalty for violators, as a way of ensuring compliance.
The APC chieftain listed agriculture, security, youth empowerment, reforms, as some of the sectors that will be given priority attention in his government on assumption of duty.
