July 14, (THEWILL) — Former Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has described the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari as a great loss to Nigeria.
Ortom, in a statement issued on Monday in Makurdi by his Media Aide, Terver Akase, said Buhari would be remembered for his contributions to the country’s political and democratic development.
He noted that the late president held a significant place in Nigeria’s political history, having served first as military Head of State from 1984 to 1985, and later as a democratically elected president between 2015 and 2023.
“President Buhari led Nigeria during challenging times and contributed his quota to the growth and unity of our nation,” the statement read.
Chief Ortom extended his heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the former president’s soul. He also urged Nigerians to reflect on the late leader’s life of service and commitment to the country.
