September 25, (THEWILL) — The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in partnership with Paystack, has introduced Operation Go Cashless, a new initiative designed to eliminate cash transactions at airports across the country.
The programme will take effect from September 29, 2025, beginning with Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
According to FAAN, all payments at its revenue points — including airport access gates, car parks, FAAN VIP and protocol lounges — will go fully cashless.
“This means we will be phasing out the collection of cash at these points. Travellers and airport users will now enjoy fast and seamless services by using a secure contactless payment option,” FAAN said in a statement.
The authority explained that the cashless policy is aimed at enhancing efficiency, improving revenue assurance, and delivering a better customer experience. It also aligns Nigeria’s airports with global digital payment trends.
To ensure a smooth transition, FAAN has deployed trained brand ambassadors across access points and payment terminals to guide passengers, assist with onboarding, demonstrate usage, and respond to queries.
As part of the rollout, passengers can obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at access gates in Lagos and Abuja airports, which can be activated and funded immediately online via www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng.
FAAN assured that the initiative is only the first phase, with plans to extend cashless payments to other airports nationwide.
For inquiries, passengers and airport users can contact FAAN’s support team via 0700-CBS-FAAN (0700-227-3226) or by email at gocashlesssupport@faan.gov.ng.
The agency stressed that Operation Go Cashless demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and the alignment of Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure with international best practices.
