June 6, (THEWILL)- The Presidency has refuted reports that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has proposed N105,000 as the national minimum wage in his template to President Bola Tinubu.
THEWILL earlier reported that the Minister, on Thursday, submitted to President Tinubu a new minimum wage proposal, meeting a 48-hour deadline set by the President.
While the President is currently reviewing the plan and expected to make an official announcement, reports credited to Western Post had said Edun proposed a monthly minimum wage of N105,000.
Reacting to the report in a post on X, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, said the report is false.
According to Onanuga, the Minister “has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false.”
