November 21, (THEWILL) — The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that two pupils of Peters Quality Foundation, a private school in Rukubi, Doma Local Government Area, were abducted on Friday.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the viral report circulating on social media and some news platforms was false and did not reflect the actual situation on the ground.
Nansel explained that at about 10:00 a.m. on November 21, 2025, the police received an unverified alert alleging that two pupils had been kidnapped while participating in sporting activities on the school field. The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately deployed a combined team of police operatives and military personnel stationed in the area.
Upon arrival, the operatives discovered that the alarm was triggered when some pupils saw hunters carrying Dane guns and, out of fear, mistakenly assumed they were kidnappers. The area was thoroughly combed, and normalcy was restored within minutes.
The proprietor of the school later confirmed to security personnel that no abduction occurred, describing the alarm as false. The police spokesperson added that the area remains under close surveillance to prevent any real security breaches.
Nansel urged the public to disregard the report, describing it as a baseless rumour, and cautioned against sharing unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Mr. Jonathan Okuba Addra, dismissed the report as fake news and encouraged residents to ignore it completely
