April 08, (THEWILL) — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its support for the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC), calling on all members to prioritize unity, peace, and collaboration as the party gears up for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the FCT ADC Publicity Secretary, Nwigbo Samuel, the chapter dissociated itself from a recent press release by some state chairmen opposing the Mark-led leadership.
The FCT chapter argued that the refusal to recognize the authentic NWC, no matter how well-intentioned, threatens to worsen internal tensions within the party.
“While we acknowledge the right of everyone to align and realign during political permutations, it is important to do so within the ambit of the law and with respect to the collective interest of Nigerians,” the statement read.
THEWILL reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Wednesday, April 1, suspended recognition of all contending factions within the ADC and removed the David Mark-led National Working Committee’s details from its official portal
It cited a March 2026 order of the Court of Appeal directing contending parties to maintain the pre-litigation status quo pending a final ruling on the matter.
While emphasizing the importance of resolving disputes internally rather than resorting to court cases, tje FCT chapter, said, “A house divided against itself, they say, will never stand.
We, however, advise that all aggrieved members within the party should, instead of resorting to unnecessary court cases that only create cracks for opposition to sneak in and destabilize, explore all dispute resolution mechanisms available in the party and seek redress. Remember, our collective interest far outweighs our individual quests. If ADC succeeds, we all succeed.”
Urging immediate intervention from party leaders to prevent further escalation, the chapter called for a spirit of sportsmanship and inclusivity.
“Lasting peace and unity are all we pray for to prevail within our party. Surely, ADC will succeed and unseat this government that has brought our country to ruin. In the spirit of friendship and togetherness, we extend a warm HANDSHAKE of love to everyone,” it concluded.
