Federal Government Unveils N1trn Real Estate Investment For NGX Listing

NGX Exchange

November 10, (THEWILL) — The Federal Government has announced plans to list a N1 trillion real estate investment initiative on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) as part of efforts to deepen the nation’s capital market and unlock new funding channels for housing and infrastructure development.

According to officials familiar with the plan, the initiative is designed to attract both local and foreign investors into Nigeria’s real estate sector through a transparent, market-driven structure. The fund is expected to be floated in collaboration with key agencies, including the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the NGX.

Speaking on the development, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development said the move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and enhance access to affordable housing.

“This N1 trillion real estate investment marks a new chapter in the government’s commitment to bridging Nigeria’s housing deficit through sustainable private-sector participation”, the minister noted.

The proposed listing will provide a structured platform for institutional and retail investors to participate in large-scale housing projects, urban renewal programmes, and infrastructure developments across the country.

Market analysts believe the fund could also boost liquidity in the capital market while offering long-term returns for investors.

Industry experts have welcomed the move, describing it as a potential game-changer for Nigeria’s real estate and construction industries. They note that channelling long-term capital through the exchange would enhance transparency, reduce financing costs, and improve the quality of housing delivery nationwide.

The government is expected to release further details on the investment framework, listing timeline, and management structure in the coming weeks.

If successfully executed, the N1 trillion listing could mark one of the largest real estate investment drives in Nigeria’s history, positioning the sector as a major contributor to national economic growth and sustainable development.
