April 10, (THEWILL) – The Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced the schedule for its 2025 Easter Vacation, which will begin on Wednesday, April 16 and conclude on Monday, April 28, 2025. Normal court sittings across all judicial divisions are expected to resume on Tuesday, April 29.
This was disclosed in a circular issued on Thursday and signed by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho. The announcement was made in accordance with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4(C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
In line with the court’s tradition, only select judicial divisions—Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt—will remain operational during the vacation to handle urgent matters. Such cases include enforcement of fundamental rights, maritime matters such as arrest or release of vessels, and other issues of national importance.
To ensure justice delivery is not hindered during the period, Justice Tsoho assigned specific judges to preside over matters arising within the vacation window. In the Abuja Division, Justice Emeka Nwite and Justice Musa S. Liman will be on duty.
In the Lagos Division, Justice Akintayo Aluko and Justice Isaac I. Dipeolu will oversee proceedings, while Justice Phoebe M. Ayua and Justice Adamu T. Mohammed will be in charge at the Port Harcourt Division.
The Chief Judge also directed all Vacation Judges and Heads of Divisions to promptly escalate any issues requiring special directives to his office.
In a goodwill message conveyed through the Director of Information, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, Justice Tsoho extended Easter greetings to members of the bench and bar, wishing them a peaceful and reflective holiday.
