June 14, (THEWILL)- The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe, says the institution has been repositioned to take a leading role in the provision of technical education in Nigeria.

The Rector made this submission during a Solemn Assembly and Thanksgiving Service to mark the Seventh anniversary of the establishment of the institution held at the annex campus of the polytechnic.

Ukekpe, who was represented by the Deputy Rector, Mr. Edet Elijah Etuk, said, “This polytechnic is repositioned to contribute to the effective teaching of technical education in view of its importance in the development of our country. So far, we have acquired all the equipment needed for the take-off of Civil and Electrical/Electronic Engineering as well as other technical programmes. Once we secure accreditation for our engineering programmes, we will surely broaden the scope of technical education in Nigeria.”

He commended staffers for the initiative of organising the programme to commemorate the anniversary of the polytechnic, declaring that the worship of the Almighty God was paramount, and a focal point to the administration.

The Rector said the Management of the institution would continue to work hard to ensure the institution got the best in terms of facilities and manpower.

The Registrar of the institution, Dr. Okon John Ekanem, said the successes it recorded so far was a clear indication that the polytechnic was making progress.

He charged staff to remain dedicated and committed to their duties and reciprocate management effort.

Ekanem also commended the determination and zeal of the Rector to give the institution a facelift.

The polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Manasseh Umoette, said the event was aimed at celebrating the achievements of the Institution so far and also to show gratitude to God Almighty for His grace and love.

In an exhortation, Rev. Anthony Omorogieva, speaking on the theme of the event, “Lord, We Are Grateful,” charged staff and students to develop the habit of thanking God at all times.

Omorogieva said, “When we thank God, He will make a way. Once you know that God exist, He will give you result for every little thing you do.”

The Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, was established in June 2014 by the Federal Government to provide technical education in the country.
