September 17, (THEWILL) — The Federal Government has approved the inclusion of the Chinese language, Mandarin, in the national curriculum for senior secondary schools across the country.
FCT Education Secretary, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, announced the development during the launch of Abuja’s 14th Chinese Corner.
According to him, the decision is aimed at equipping Nigerian students with skills that will enhance global competitiveness while deepening educational and trade relations between Nigeria and China.
Hayyo stressed the growing importance of Mandarin in commerce, education, culture, and international diplomacy, noting that proficiency in the language will open up new opportunities for Nigerian students on the global stage.
