May 27, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating all forms of examination malpractice across the country, describing the practice as a grave threat to Nigeria’s human capital development.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, on behalf of the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
Dr. Alausa expressed deep concern over the persistence of examination malpractice in the nation’s education sector, warning that the unethical practice continues to undermine the credibility of academic qualifications and hinder national progress.
“Examination malpractice poses a significant threat to Nigeria’s human development potential. It erodes public confidence in the education system and compromises the future of our youth,” the Minister stated.
In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, the Minister announced that the Ministry, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other law enforcement agencies, will intensify efforts to prosecute offenders.
“The Examination Malpractice Act of 1999 and other applicable laws provide the legal framework for these decisive actions,” he added.
Dr. Alausa called on all stakeholders—students, parents, teachers, school administrators, and the general public—to join hands in safeguarding the integrity of the education system.
“We will work tirelessly to ensure that examinations remain a true reflection of knowledge and competence. Our students deserve a system that rewards merit and prepares them for a rapidly changing global environment.
“The public is strongly encouraged to report any cases of examination malpractice to the appropriate authorities. Together, we can restore excellence and integrity to our academic institutions,” he declared.
