April 24, (THEWILL) – The federal government has revoked mineral titles of 924 holders over inactivity at the mining sites.
Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, disclosed this at a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
THEWILL reports that the federal government had revoked 1,633 mineral titles in November 2023 for various infractions.
Speaking on Wednesday, Alake explained that the mineral titles were revoked due to the holders’ failure to utilise their licences after they were issued.
The Minister alleged that some persons were in the habit of licence racketeering, where they procure the titles at cheap government rates only to resell at exorbitant rates to genuine mining firms.
