May 14, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has announced the planned closure of the Ijora–Marine Bridge in Lagos for 21 days beginning Sunday, May 18, 2025, to carry out critical repair works.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Engr. Olukorede Kesha, who disclosed that the closure will be total at some sections of the bridge and partial at others.
According to Kesha, the repair involves lifting the entire bridge deck to replace faulty bearings beneath, among other structural maintenance activities.
He assured that adequate traffic diversion plans and control measures have been designed to minimize disruptions during the period of the closure.
“We have carefully worked out diversion routes and traffic management systems to ease the flow of vehicles,” he said.
Kesha urged residents, commuters, and businesses in the affected areas to make necessary adjustments during the repair period.
“For safety precautions, appropriate signage and traffic control personnel will be deployed to guide motorists and pedestrians. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we work to improve our infrastructure,” he added.
