April 20, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government is making arrangements to evacuate Nigerian students in Sudan, following the ongoing hostilities that broke out between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The ongoing violence between the Sudanese Army and the RSF has led to deaths and destruction in the country.
Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, noted with concern the plight of Nigerian Students in the war-ravaging country.
A statement issued on Thursday, by Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NIDCOM, Gabriel Odu said the Commission has received the letter of Solicitation by the National Association of Nigerian Students Sudan for possible evacuation of Students, especially those in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital.
NIDCOM assured that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), which is in charge of emergency evacuations, is consulting with the Nigerian mission in Sudan and other relevant agencies.
Dabiri-Erewa urged all Nigerian students in Sudan, as well as Nigerians living in Sudan, to be security conscious and calm.
