September 29, (THEWILL) — The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Announcing the holiday on Monday, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, said the day should serve as a moment of reflection for Nigerians on the nation’s journey since 1960.
The minister, in a statement issued through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, congratulated citizens at home and abroad, describing the anniversary as a reminder of the country’s unity, resilience, and shared destiny.
He urged Nigerians to renew their commitment to national ideals, stressing that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda offers a path toward rebirth, economic transformation, and collective prosperity.
“With sustained patriotism and cooperation, Nigeria will continue to thrive in peace, progress, and development,” Tunji-Ojo assured, while extending best wishes for a memorable Independence Day celebration.
