June 11, (THEWILL) – The Federal Government has warned Nigerians to beware of recruitment racketeers exploiting unsuspecting job seekers with fake promises of employment into paramilitary agencies.
The warning follows the circulation of an internal memo from the Ministry of Interior regarding the recruitment process into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and Federal Fire Service.
The leaked document, which went viral on social media on Monday, sparked anxiety among many Nigerian youths.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Jibril (Rtd), the board distanced itself from the viral memo, clarifying that no recruitment exercise is currently ongoing.
Jibril confirmed that while there is Presidential approval for recruitment into the four paramilitary services under the Ministry of Interior, the official process has not yet commenced.
“There are several internal procedures that must be completed before any recruitment can begin,” the statement said.
The Board assured Nigerians that when vacancies are available and approval is secured, an official announcement will be made through national newspapers and other credible platforms.
It also reiterated that the recruitment process would be free, fair, and transparent, and at no point will applicants be required to pay any fees.
“Members of the public should be cautious and avoid falling victim to recruitment fraudsters looking to extort desperate job seekers,” the Board warned.
It urged Nigerians to disregard unofficial communication regarding job openings and await verified information through appropriate channels.
