March 02, (THEWILL) — Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced that Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will on March 7, inaugurate the state’s newly completed Geriatric Centre, otherwise known as the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre, in Uyo.
Governor Eno disclosed this during the March edition of the Government House monthly covenant service, stating that the commissioning of the facility would form a major highlight of the First Lady’s first official visit to the state.
According to him, the centre, located along the Arise Medical Corridor on Uyo–Ikot Ekpene Road, will cater specifically to senior citizens aged 65 and above.
“The commissioning of the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre will be one of the major events of the First Lady’s visit. It is a facility dedicated to the well-being of our senior citizens”, the governor stated.
He added that the First Lady would also attend the grand finale of the ongoing women’s sensitisation and mobilisation tour across the state.
Governor Eno, however, expressed appreciation to women in the state for their commitment to the sensitisation and economic empowerment programme, conveying what he described as the First Lady’s warm felicitations.
In another major announcement, the governor revealed that Ibom Air would take delivery of two additional Airbus A-220 aircraft before the end of the year as part of efforts to expand its operations.
He also disclosed that various projects were ongoing at the Victor Attah International Airport ahead of the commencement of international flights scheduled for April.
“We are taking delivery of two new Airbus aircraft this year, and significant projects are ongoing at the airport in preparation for international operations”, he said.
The governor further announced that the state government was constructing a new jetty in Oron to restore the area’s commercial relevance, while preliminary works had commenced at the Ikot Ekpene International Market, with full construction set to begin soon.
He reiterated that the state was operating a Treasury Single Account (TSA) system and warned Ministries, Departments and Agencies against non-compliance, stressing that his administration would not tolerate any infractions.
While highlighting achievements of his administration, Governor Eno described peace as the state’s greatest asset and urged residents to resist any attempt to destabilise it.
He also announced that the state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, calling on party members to participate actively.
The governor urged continued prayers for his administration, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and President Bola Tinubu.
In his sermon themed “El-Shaddai”, drawn from 2 Corinthians 9:8, Pastor Umar Idris Enoch of Region 14, Redeemed Christian Church of God, encouraged believers to trust in God despite uncertainties, assuring them that divine purpose would always prevail.
