Bomb Explodes In Kano

June 21, (THEWILL) – Less than 12 hours after a suicide bomber killed 10 people at a fish market in Borno state on Friday night, the police have confirmed the death of five people from a military grade explosive in Kano State.

Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, said the incident occurred early Saturday at a scrap collection company located at Eastern bypass in the state.

Speaking with newsmen, Bakori said the 10 injured victims were receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

“I received a call that something serious had happened. When I arrived, I found that it was a suspected explosion—possibly a military mortar bomb. Fifteen people were injured, and unfortunately, five died.

“Preliminary findings suggest the explosive material was being transported by a trailer, but it remains unclear whether the vehicle was carrying military personnel or contractors.

“The situation is still under investigation, but we understand the vehicle involved may have come from Yobe State”, he added.
