National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff

BEVERLY HILLS, April 26, (THEWILL) – Five persons in the convoy of a former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, have been killed by Boko Haram insurgents.

Reports said the terrorists attacked Sheriff’s convoy, of nine exotic vehicles, at Auno, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.

Sheriff was said to be travelling to Maiduguri from Abuja on Thursday evening to take part in the third day post-burial prayer for his father, Galadima Sheriff, who died last week.

The convoy was trailed and engaged by the insurgents around 6:30 pm and during the crossfire, two police officers, two civilians and a soldier were killed.

One of the nine vehicles was damaged at Auno but the convoy was rescued by a team of the Rapid Response Squad who successfully pushed back the terrorists.
